BIOGRAPHY

Brian is an artist/educator who works primarily in clay and mixed media. His current interest is realizing atmospherically fired vessels which employ an intuitive, sculptural direction. These vessels are coated with slips, impregnated with aggregate, and often left raw, so as the partnership between kiln action and atmosphere is readily evidenced on the constructed forms. He is intrigued by this partnership in process, construction and firing technique. Brian is a Philadelphia native currently living in Falls Church, VA. 

He is the Ceramics Director at the Art League (Old Town Alexandria, VA).

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am compelled to realize vessels that interact, speak with, and to the world. Their material is unhidden, evidenced, raw and unapologetic. They are tactile and call to the senses of the user. They are heavy without weight.
